Sink Unblocking In Grand Cayman

What is the best sink unblocking company in Grand Cayman?
The most reliable company in Grand Cayman for unblocking sinks is CALL GEORGE. We have a team of experts ready to help; we have a history of unblocking sinks for clients across the Cayman Islands. If your sink is blocked, it usually requires specialist equipment, since blockages can be too far to reach with regular household tools.
How to unblock a sink
At a real client's home in Grand Cayman, a bathroom sink had stopped draining completely. A rubber band had lodged in the pipe and trapped hair and other debris around it, building up into a full blockage. We used a specialist sink unblocking tool to pull the rubber band and hair out, checked the pipes underneath for leaks, then ran the tap to prove it drained. These are the real job photos and the steps we took.
1. Take out the stopper and feed the unblocking tool into the drain
We lifted out the sink's pop-up stopper and set it aside, then fed a flexible drain-unblocking tool down past the plug. The tool has small barbs along its length, so it reaches further than household tools can and hooks into whatever is sitting in the pipe instead of pushing it further down.

The stopper out and the unblocking tool going down the drain. 2. Hook the blockage and pull it back up
Once the barbs caught the blockage we drew the tool slowly back up, keeping it steady so nothing broke off and fell back into the pipe. Debris came up clinging to the end of the tool, which told us we had found what was stopping the water.

The cause was a rubber band that had dropped into the drain. On its own it would not stop a sink, but it caught hair and other material as it went down, and over time that built into a solid plug that water could not get past. We pulled the whole clump out in one piece and disposed of it.

What was blocking the sink: a rubber band with hair trapped around it. 4. Check the pipes under the sink for leaks
Pulling a blockage out puts force on the drain, so we opened the cabinet and checked the tailpiece, trap and joints under the sink while water was running. Everything stayed dry, so there was no leak to deal with.

The final check was to run the tap for 30 seconds. The water drained straight away with no pooling in the basin, which showed the pipe was clear rather than just partly open. Only then did we call the job finished.

The 30-second test: water draining freely with nothing backing up.
Frequently asked questions
How much does sink unblocking cost?
Our standard rate is $125 KYD per hour. Larger jobs are quoted per project. The total depends on where the blockage is - just below the plug, further down in the trap, or deeper in the pipework behind the wall - and whether the trap has to come apart to clear it. Send us a photo of the sink, and the pipes underneath if you can, for a quote specific to your setup.
How long does sink unblocking take?
A blockage close to the plug, like a clump of hair caught on something in the pipe, is normally cleared in one visit. It takes longer when the blockage sits further down the pipework, when the trap has to be taken apart and cleaned, or when several sinks in the property are draining slowly. We can advise on timing after seeing your setup; we do not promise a fixed turnaround before inspection.
What equipment do you use to unblock a sink?
For blockages near the plug we use a flexible drain-unblocking tool with barbs along its length. It reaches down past the stopper and hooks into hair and debris so they can be pulled up and out, instead of being pushed further down the pipe. Where the blockage is deeper we can take the trap off under the sink and clear it by hand. We avoid harsh chemical drain cleaners because they rarely shift solid items like a rubber band and can damage older pipes. We bring the tools we need; you only need to clear the cupboard under the sink.
What does sink unblocking involve?
We take out the plug or stopper, then work the unblocking tool down the drain to find and hook the blockage. Whatever comes up is pulled out completely - on this job a rubber band that had trapped hair around it. Then we check the pipes and trap under the sink for leaks, because pulling at a blockage can disturb a loose joint. Finally we run the tap for around 30 seconds to make sure the water drains freely and does not back up.
Can I unblock a sink myself?
A slow sink caused by hair just below the plug can often be cleared with a cheap plastic drain tool from a hardware store. The usual DIY mistake is pushing the blockage further down instead of hooking it out, which turns a five-minute fix into a pipe that has to be taken apart. Pouring chemical cleaner on top of a solid object, like a rubber band, rarely works and leaves caustic water sitting in the basin. If the sink still will not drain, or you see water under the cabinet afterwards, it is time to call someone in.
