How to install a washing machine
At a real client's home in Grand Cayman, we installed a new washing machine from start to finish: connecting the hot and cold water pipes from the wall, plugging it into the home's electricity, running a full test cycle and moving it into its final position. These are the real job photos and the steps we took.
1. Check the space and the existing connections
Before connecting anything, we checked the laundry area and the wall connection point: the hot and cold water valves, the drain point and the power outlet. Confirming these are present and in good condition is what makes the rest of the installation straightforward.

We connected the hot and cold water supply hoses from the valves in the wall to the matching inlets on the back of the washing machine. Each connection was tightened and checked, since a loose hose connection is one of the most common causes of leaks after an installation.

We positioned the drain hose so waste water flows away correctly, and plugged the machine into the home's electricity. The outlet and plug were checked so the machine has a sound power supply before any water was turned on.
4. Run a full test cycle
With everything connected, we ran a full test cycle and watched the machine fill, wash and drain. This confirmed the machine ran with no issues and, just as importantly, that none of the new connections leaked under real operating conditions.

Once the test cycle completed with no issues or leaks, we moved the washing machine into its correct position against the wall, level with the dryer beside it. The hoses and cables were left with enough slack so the machine can be pulled out for future maintenance.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a washing machine installation cost?
Our standard rate is $125 KYD per hour. Larger jobs are quoted per project. The total depends on access, the condition of the existing connections and any materials needed. Send us a photo of your laundry area for a quote specific to your setup.
How long does the installation take?
A straightforward installation with existing water valves, a drain point and a suitable power outlet is normally completed in a single visit, including a full test cycle. The time needed depends on access behind the machine and the condition of the existing connections. We can advise on timing after seeing your setup; we do not promise a fixed turnaround before inspection.
What materials are needed?
For this job, the work involved connecting hot and cold water supply hoses from the wall valves to the machine, positioning the drain hose and plugging the machine into the home's electricity. Hoses and washers must suit the machine and the existing valves, and connections are checked for leaks. If your laundry area lacks suitable valves, a drain point or a grounded outlet, that additional work may need a qualified plumber or electrician.
What does the installation involve?
We check the space and the existing connections, connect the hot and cold water supply, set up the drain hose, plug the machine in and run a full test cycle to confirm it runs with no issues or leaks. We then move the machine into its correct position against the wall. Before finishing, the connections are checked for leaks and the machine for stable operation.
Can I install a washing machine myself?
Some manufacturers provide DIY guidance, but incorrect hose connections are a common cause of leaks and water damage. Water supply work near electrical outlets also carries risk. If you are not confident, have a competent person handle the connection, follow the machine manufacturer's instructions and always run a test cycle while watching for leaks before regular use.
